For the UK most items are posted First Class with Royal Mail. This service aims to deliver in 1 day and may require a signature on delivery. If there is no one able to sign for the parcel when it is delivered, redelivery or collection can be arranged with Royal Mail. Items over 2kg will usually be sent using a courier service.
For international orders, items will take longer to arrive depending on the destination country and time spent in customs.
